Trinity School of Early Learning
(Monthly Calendar)
Mission
Trinity School of Early Learning is a
Christ-centered Episcopal school nurturing a diverse community of
multiple faiths and nationalities, ages 2.5-5 years. We honor the
dignity, diversity and individual needs of the whole child as we prepare
her or him for entry into Kindergarten. Our program provides a creative
and developmentally appropriate environment to promote the social,
emotional, spiritual, cognitive and physical growth of our students.
More and more families are seeking out
Episcopal Schools as their children reach school age. At Trinity School
of Early Learning (TSEL), parents can find academic excellence provided
within a Christian framework designed to nurture the spirit of the
young, as well as the mind and body. We respect each student as a child
of God.
History
Formerly know as the Trinity Episcopal
Children’s Center, TSEL traces its origins back to the 1950's when a
group of Trinity Church parishioners decided to provide day care service
for neighborhood and parish children. The church saw a need in its
surrounding community and set out to meet that need. In May 1980, a
formal resolution was passed by the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church
officially establishing a day care center program.
Recognizing a growing need to insure
the social and academic preparation of children for entry into
kindergarten, the Center Board and church Vestry agreed in the summer of
2007 to transform the day care center into a preschool. TSEL was born
in January 2008 with program highlights (see below) designed to
facilitate a smooth and successful transition by students to their next
educational level. TSEL remains a non-profit organization and
missionary outreach ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Oversight
TSEL is under the general supervision
of the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church who also serves as TSEL
Headmaster. Day-to-day operations are the responsibility of TSEL’s
Executive Director while the Board of Directors of TSEL and the Vestry
of Trinity Episcopal Church provide overall policy and management
guidance.
TSEL is affiliated with The National
Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES). For over 40 years, NAES has
provided guidance on effective leadership and governance for over 1,000
Episcopal schools as well as on how to retain Episcopal identity in a
wonderfully diverse and multicultural world.
TSEL is open to all children ages two
and a half (toilet training not required) through five years, who may
benefit from the program, regardless of race, religion, nationality or
creed.

An experienced, dedicated
teaching staff
The dedicated staff
of Trinity School Early Learning is committed to providing a healthy and
nurturing environment in which your child can learn and grow. Each
staff member undergoes a combined Criminal History/Sex Offender

training, workshops and/or classes every year.

Creative Curriculum
The Creative
Curriculum for Preschoolers is
a comprehensive
early childhood educational system that promotes the cognitive,
language, social/emotional, and physical development of young children.
The Creative Curriculum framework is composed of five components.
1.
How Children
Develop and Learn
2.
The Learning
Environment
3.
What Children
Learn
4.
The Teacher’s
Role
5.
The Family’s
Role
Each of these five
components is applied to eleven areas, Blocks, Dramatic Play,
Toys/Games, Art, Library, Discovery, Sand & Water, Music Movement,
Cooking, Computers and Outdoors.
The Creative
Curriculum provides teachers with a clear and concrete way to apply
child development and learning theories to their everyday work with
preschool children.
TSEL also may choose
to use a supplemental curriculum, the A-Beka Curriculum,
recognized for its distinctive Math, Reading and Bible programs for
students 3-5 years old. Together, these two curriculums take a
practical approach to learning that keeps learning lively, interesting
and memorable.
v

Art, and Music Movement enrichment Classes as well as Phonics Reading
Instruction.
v
Computers in every classroom
including the Library.

Chapel
As an Episcopal School, the Trinity
School of Early Learning has the special privilege of providing a
learning environment inspired by Judeo-Christian values in which there
is an appreciation of the diversity and value of all religious
traditions. We recognize that God’s activity in the world is not
confined to the Church and embrace a willingness to listen critically
and learn humbly from those whose perception of God’s mystery differs
from our own.
One way we strive to encourage God
awareness and expose our students to foundational religious principles
is through a weekly 20 minute Chapel experience that all students
attend.
During Chapel, our children learn basic
concepts like God exists, love one another, help others and be
thankful. Through short stories and object lessons, they hear about the
Christian tradition as well as the love of God made manifest in Jesus
Christ.
They sing. They listen to biblical and
other faith-based stories. They may ask questions if they desire. We
invite parents and guardians to attend Chapel at anytime. From the last
week of May through the last week of September, we hold Chapel on the
first Tuesday of the month only at 11:15 am.
