Music

The mission of music at
Trinity Episcopal Church is to praise God through the harmonious
correlation of music and liturgy, giving life, beauty, meaning, purpose
and glory in our worship of God.
As a welcoming
multicultural congregation with constituents of Anglo-European,
African-American, Indian, Chinese and African descent, we at Trinity
enjoy singing and understand praise to be the most important role of
music in worship. Our choirs are accustomed to singing a broad spectrum
of music with concentration in uplifting traditional and contemporary
music drawn from The Hymnal 1982, Lift Every Voice and Sing II,
Wonder, Love and Praise and Voices Found. Worship music is enhanced by a state of the
art Model MDS Allen Organ, a three-octave set of English handbells, two
pianos a “portative” pipe organ along with parish and community
instrumentalists.
Join us as we offer praise to God through word and song. A description
of the various groups that support our music ministry and information on
how you may participate follows. To inquire about any aspect of
Trinity’s music program, contact Barbara Stefan at 703-920-7077 or

Trinity’s
Adult Choir
Trinity’s Adult Choir
sings during Sunday services and special services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy
Thursday, Good Friday, and Christmas Eve. All are welcome to “make a
joyful noise” in the choir; formal voice training is not required. Choir
rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30 until 9:00 pm September through May.
Trinity Singers (Kids’
Choir)
All children ages 5 and up are
invited to sing in our kids’ choir, The Trinity Singers. The
children learn how music relates to their faith in our Christian
Education program, and sing several times each year. The
highlight of our Kids’ music program is the Christmas Eve
musical.
Trinity Ringers (Handbell Choir)
Trinity’s
handbell choir welcomes anyone ages 11 through 99 who can count! Note
reading is taught during rehearsals. In addition to learning new music
to ring during worship, they learn special effects, such as echo and
tower swing, and explore ways to enhance our worship experience using
handbells. Handbell practice is Saturdays from 4:00 until 5:00 pm
September through May.
