Nursery
We love the kids. But we understand
that sometimes, they need a break from church. Our nursery is staffed
by a professional child-care provider. There’s a crib for your littlest
ones who just need a nap, and toys for kids to play with. Your kids
will be welcome to rejoin you in the service at any time. Just ask our
ushers or any of the other parents to show you to the nursery. And the
crying and the temper tantrums that break out during the sermon or the
prayers? Don’t worry about it- there’s a place here for your children!

Good News for God’s Kids
Our 10:30AM services start off with a
special sermon for our kids. The preacher of the day speaks directly to
our kids as they gather on the front steps in front of the choir. Some
adults have been known to remark on how much they enjoy, and find
especially meaningful, the kid’s sermon.
Following Good News for God’s Kids, our
young people return to their seats to participate fully in the worship
service. Our kids learn how we worship as a community of faith as they
serve as acolytes, oblation bearers, readers, choir members, welcome
team members and junior ushers.

Confirmation Preparation
Rather than lump the youth in with the
adults’ Inquiring Minds class, we offer a special, shorter series for
age 11 and up. We seek to give this age group a safe space to ask their
questions about faith and to make their own decision about what they
want to do with their faith.
The
Tweens and teens 6th
grade and up will have a youth group modeled after our adult inquirer’s
class beginning September 24. Topics that typically would be covered in
a youth’s inquirers’ class will be explored. For those choosing to be
confirmed there
will be a culminating and preparatory overnight retreat.
For additional information,
contact the Rev. Kim Coleman.

Trinity Singers and Handbell Choir
All children ages 5 to 12 are invited to
sing in our kids’ choir, The Trinity Singers. The children enjoy ringing
bells, exploring percussion instruments, singing, and learning about
music and how music relates to their faith. They sing four times each
year, and present a Christmas pageant on Christmas Eve. A music outreach
project is a highlight of our choir program. The Trinity Singers have
practiced for half an hour after church Sundays September through May. A
rehearsal schedule for the new program year will be released in
September.
We invite all kids ages 11 and older to
join Trinity’s Handbell Choir as well. Handbell practice is Saturdays
from 3:30 until 5 pm September through May.

Children’s Ministry Special Events

Special
Children’s Ministry Events include occasions like our annual Christmas
pageant pictured above.
In addition, sometimes our kids decide
they want to do a special project because of a special interest they
have.
In the past years, they have focused
on helping the homeless. They’ve walked in the Mini-Walk to benefit
Fannie Mae foundation, baked cookies and sold crafts to raise funds, and
donated warm weather clothes out of their own belongings. The kids also
decided they wanted to be the servers for our annual pancake dinner,
complete with table service. Some of our youth even serve as junior
ushers before the services. In each event, with guidance from an adult,
the kids come up with the project, volunteer their time, and work on the
advertising and completion. Their Ministry Special Events are limited
only by the imagination of our kids.
