What a peculiar 2005 stewardship season we
have been experiencing. No weekly stewardship statements. No
parishioners sharing “Why I give to Trinity.” No appeals grounded in
the reality of escalating operational costs. Just time set aside each
week to read and reflect upon God’s promises and our giving.
Trinity’s Stewardship Committee decided
early on to accept as a given the principle that God’s plan for making
our lives abundant and blessed hinges on the act of giving - whether we
are speaking of time, talent, grace or money.
Our giving sows seeds for future prosperity
that take time to grow. Our giving opens up within us a broadened
capacity to receive. Our giving furthers the mission of God in Christ
Jesus. Somewhere, our giving is putting a smile on someone else’s
face. God loves us so much that God gives. Over the next few days, I
will join with you in praying about the extent to which we vow to
continue to do the same.
Gracious heavenly
Father, you so loved the world that you gave. Grant us a spirit of
wisdom and revelation to recognize the abundance of gifts you bestow
upon us. Help us, in all ways, to model your example in our own
giving. Bless us with the desire and will to use your gifts and
resources in ways that prosper your purposes; to the glory of Jesus
Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.
May God’s best blessings
always be upon you.
